Judges 4:6-8, “She sent for Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali and said to him, ‘The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: “Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead the way to Mount Tabor. I will lure Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon River and give him into your hands. Barak said to her, ‘If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.’”
Deborah is telling Barak that God has given him victory over Sisera and to get his men together and go fight. Barak tells Deborah he will only do what God has said if she goes with him. Barak is setting conditions on his obedience to God. How many times do we do the same thing? We tell God I will obey “if” He does what I want. Have you ever gotten mad at God because you felt like He wasn’t living up to His end of the bargain? The reason is you had made conditions for your obedience. God, if I do this then you must do that. We have to stop setting conditions for obedience and telling God that He must line up with us before we will line up with Him. Are you willing to follow God without any conditions? Will you follow Him just because He is God?
